Disrupting Type

Our purpose is to dismantle the stereotype-driven portrayal of women perpetuated by film, media, and the sports world, by cultivating a more accurate and inclusive representation of women through education, development opportunities, platforms for distribution of creative work, and creative endeavors that are equally shaped by both genders.

We see value in storytelling that embraces the whole of the female experience versus a “type” of female look and experience as dictated by our society. At our core, we know and believe that women, who are fifty percent of this world, should own an equal part of the storytelling and representation that is for and about them, and should be an additive representation that includes all types of women and their varying experiences.

Our initiative is pro-women, not anti-men. We are striving for gender neutrality in film, sports, and media, where there is no one gender who is dominant over the other, but they exist equally and with unfettered access. We acknowledge that any gender dominance in any field results in negative consequences for all. The narrative we support is that women should be equal partners in these fields and represented as such.
